  • He ran in election against Michael Dukakis in 1988 and won. His VP was Dan Quayle.
  • He succeeded Ronald Regan as the next president of the U.S.A

WHAT WAS HIS "PROGRAM"?

  • Bush wanted to clean up foreign affairs with other countries after the fall of the Soviet Union and the Berlin Wall.
  • He also wanted to lower U.S taxes and not add anymore.
  • The biggest obstacle he faced was that congress was democratic and would not agree with him in anything.
  • Though he was successful in foreign affairs, he ended up raising taxes to please congress.

THE MOST MEMORABLE EVENTS

  • The passing of the Clean Air Act which was passed to combat pollution in the U.S
  • The first Gulf War to remove Saddam Hussein from Kuwait.

WAS HE A GOOD PRESIDENT?

  • According the gallop survey, he was popular until 1992 when his ratings dropped below 50%
  • On debate.org his numbers are 52% in favor and 48% opposing.
  • I personally feel he was a good president and don't blame him for having to raise taxes and such to please a difficult congress.
