Washington was very confident in his attack and in his men.
He showed this at the Battle of Trenton. They had crossed the river later than expected but he was confident that him and his men could still catch the Hessians by surprise
Washington was the probably the best general and president for listening to his other officers to come up with plans. He displayed this countless times during the Revolution
Washington demanded Discipline and Respect at all times from his men. This started as soon as he took control of the Army in July 3rd, 1775. He turned a bunch of men that really didn't have a clue what to do into some pretty good soldiers
Lastly, Washington was very personally invested. Not just in the war, but the country itself. After the war he could of chosen to go and farm till he died but instead he saw his country struggling. So he got back into politics and became the first president of the United States of America
