PRESENTATION OUTLINE
I was born on January 1 1864, on a small farm in Diamond, MO. I was born into slavery. My parents were Giles Carver and Mary Carver. When I was born the owner of me Moses Carver and Susan Carver was who I was raised by. They teached me how to read and write. When I was younger I enjoyed exploring the forest. My parents died when I was born. I never met my parents cause of that.
In 1890, I attended Simpson College, where I studied the piano and art. After a year I transferred to the State of Agricultural College in Ames, Iowa. In 1894 I got my bachelors degree, then in 1896 I graduated. Although it was a tough time, I knew that it would soon payoff. In 1896 Booker.T Washington offered me a job in Tuskegee. Where I would train elementary teachers in agriculture. There I taught them crop rotation and invented things with peanuts and sweet potatoes.
In 1923 I won the Springarn Medal for my incredible achievements.
Also in 1930 I won the Theodore Roosevelt medal in honor of my achievements in science. I knew that you should work hard for your accomplishments and not have have them just handed to you but earned.
Through my career, I had many problems just because of my skin color. Such as my parents being killed when I was very young.
I always knew what I could provide was a gift from Jesus. I never expected a award, but just a better place where everyone could be equal.
I was the first black American to go to Simpson College and succeed.
I was getting old, but that still didn’t stop me. I tried to make the best of the rest of my life. Then in January 5, 1943 I fell off my stairs in my house. At the age of 78, I passed away not know how big of motivation I was.
Only 9 days later Franklin Roosevelt donated 30,000 dollars to the George Washington Carver Monument. It was the first monument dedicated to a non president.
