EARLY LIFE AND FAMILY

  • George washington was born in westmoreland county, viginia.
  • He is the oldest of 6 children
  • His parents are augustine and mary ball.
  • George washingtons parents got married march 16 1732

REVOLUTIONARY LEADER

  • George Washington opposed the stamp act of 1765
  • George W. Did not have a leading role until the protest of the Townshend acts in 1767
  • George w was opposed by the colonies declaring Independence but he wasn't against resisting what He believed which was fundamental violations of the Rights of the English men.

WINNING INDEPENDENCE

  • Philadelphia fell two weeks after being defeated in the battle of brandy wine.
  • George w was forced to surrender his entire 6,200 man army because howe couldn't reach him on time.
  • This allowed the french to openly ally itself with the American cause for independence

PRESIDENCY

  • George w was anonymously chosen as president
  • During his presidency George W discovered that a new constitution was needed
  • The new constitution would give the government more power.
  • George w declined a salary of 25,000 dollars.

  • He died of a throat infection.

  • In December 1752 George w was made a Commander of the viginia milita
  • In January 1759, he married Martha Dandridge Custic , a wealthy widow with two children
  • George Washington expanded Mount Vernon , he expanded it 6000 acres
  • He grew a variety of crops , including wheat , corn and maintained fruit orchards

FACTS

  • George was 6'2" tall
  • He once owned 300 slaves but in his will he said to free them after is wife died
  • His wife died in 1801
  • His Vice President was John Adams
