Born on 22 February 1732 in Westmoreland Virginia
Died on 14 December 1799 in Mount Vernon Virginia
His wife was Martha Dandridge Custisee

POLITICAL LIFE

  • Was president from 30 April 1789 to 4 March 1797
  • Vice President and successor was John Adams
  • Was not a member of any political party
  • He was the first American president

ARMY LIFE

  • He served for the Continental Army from 1775 - 1783
  • He served for the United States Army from 1798 - 1799
  • He served for the Virginia Provincial Militia from 1752 - 1758

DEATH

  • Washington died aged 67
  • Washington was going to be buried in a pyramid but he wasn't
  • Many people throughout the world were saddened by his death
  • Americans wore mourning clothes for months
  • Napoleon Bonaparte ordered ten days of mourning in France

  • He is on the one-dollar bill and the quarter
  • He said that his slaves were to be freed in his will
