Johannes Gutenberg's printing press influenced modern times by the spread of literacy.

Say why Johannes Gutenberg influenced modern times. He influenced the modern times by gaining people's education through reading books that were made on his invention.

The spread of literacy from Gutenberg's invention was then brought into affect as Gutenberg wrote books with his invention.

"His printing presses were later used to mass produce bibles-helping to spread the most influential book of the era" (Pettinger).

As more books were created with the invention, more people began to read. Different books in different languages were also printed to help people read more often. The prices of books dropped as the invention made book writing easier.

"Literacy levels, still low among the general population in Europe, crept upwards as the cost of books steadily dropped and book fairs became yearly occurrences in most major cities during the early years of the Renaissance" (Whipps).

The Invention

  • Gutenberg's invention introduced reading all around.
  • The literacy levels grew as The Printing Press was used overtime.
  • The invention helped more people learn to read.
  • Most people learned many different languages after invention.
