Ranginui the sky father, Papatuanuku the earth mother were very close.

Long ago Ranginui the sky father, Papatuanuku the Earth mother were very close. Their children didn’t like it because the sky was always night and there was no light. The 6 kids decided to split their parents. They tried with all their might, but they couldn't split them, soon it was Tane Mahuta’s turn. He pushed and he pushed then he pushed some more. He did it he split his parents. The world was filled with light. When it rains it’s Ranginui crying for his wife Papatuanuku. Papatuanuku’s pain can be seen as the red clay in the ground.
