Gerber was started in 1927 in Fremont, Michigan by Daniel Gerber.
Gerber introduced their baby food in 1928. That same year, they chose a sketch to be their Gerber Baby in ads.
Gerber was a huge success and grew for decades. In 2007 it was bought by Nestlé.
Gerber is still headquartered in Fremont, Michigan, but its owner Nestlé is Swiss.
