ROCKET TECHNOLOGY

  • Wernher von Braun
  • Created the first ballistic missile in 1943
  • This technology was captured by the US and the USSR during the fall of Nazi Germany
  • This lead the invention of the space shuttle

THE SUN LAMP

  • Invented in 1918 by Dr. Kurt Huldschinsky in Berlin, Germany
  • During the winter he had patients with rickets a disease were the patient was pale and their bones were weak
  • He experimented on a patient with a lamp emitting ultraviolet ligh
  • He noticed the bones of the patient getting stronger
  • Later research revealed his lamps we giving the patient vitamin D which is necessary for bones to stay healthy which helps us today

X-RAYS

  • Wilhelm Röntgen Discovered electromagnetic radiation on November 8, 1895
  • Tested it with a piece of cardboard and a lenard tuber
  • He then tested it on his wife's hand and they saw the bones in her hand
  • He won the nobel prize in physics for his discovery of x-rays
  • X-rays are useful today by helping us see inside bodies of injured people

ALBERT EINSTEIN

  • Albert Einstein, a German born physicist helped develop modern physics
  • He is best know for his mass-energy equation E=mc2 in 1905
  • It tells us how mass and energy are related

JOHANNES KEPLER

  • A german astronomy and Natural philosopher
  • Know for his ability in formulating and verifying the three laws of planetary motion which is now known as kepler's law in 1609
  • Kepler's law helps us today understand planetary motion

PILOT COMMUNICATIONS

  • During World War 1 the German Air force found a way for communications between all their planes
  • This helps us today by having air traffic controllers communicate with each plane to make sure they are safe

TIMELIME

  • 1609- Kepler's law
  • 1895- X-rays
  • 1905- E=mc2
  • 1916- Pilot communications & the wristwatch
  • 1918- Sun lamp
  • 1943-Rocket technology

GROUP

  • Sarah- research
  • Carter-haiku/research

THE WRISTWATCH

  • First used in WW1 to help soldiers keep track of time
  • Invented by the company H williamson
  • It helps us today by telling us the time
