LINE

  • is a mark made by a pointed tool that has length and width but the width is so tiny compared to the length that one perceives line as having only one dimension.

ACTUAL LINE

  • are created by artists to represent edges.

CONTOUR LINE

  • are made of actual lines that represent exterior edges and interior significant changes in the surface elevation.

LINE SKETCH

  • uses broken lines to approximate the general shape and surface of the subject.

IMPLIED LINE

  • are created by abrupt changes in color.

IMPLIED LINE

  • can also be created by objects in a row.

HORIZONTAL LINE

  • go from left to right on the paper and are parallel with the top and bottom of the paper.

VERTICAL LINE

  • go from the bottom to the top of the paper.

DIAGONAL LINE

  • are straight lines that are not parallel to the sides or the top of the paper.
