  • The north and south both had armies with about 164,000 people fighting in total
  • Some notable leaders were general winfield s. Hancock, General John Buford, General John Reynolds, and many more

  • The union side won and helped keep General Robert e. Lee's second north invasion. It was the deadliest battle in the civil war
  • Some crucial Union land positions were places called little round top and the devil's den
  • Some crucial confederate land positions were cemetery hill and ridge, and a place called Culp's hill

  • The union had some advantages during this battle. They had a larger population, better leaders, more railroads, and more
  • They also had some disadvantages, they were an unknown territory, and the fact that not everyone in the north wanted slavery gone.

  • The confederacy had so advantages as well. They knew their land very well, and their army was better trained.
  • Some disadvantages were the lack of good transportation, they had a lot of land to protect at one time, and the military was much smaller.
