IMMIGRANTS IN CITIES/TO AMERICA

  • The immigrants and Americans
  • They were impacted by making less job opportunities
  • It transformed America by the Americans looking down on immigrants

SOCIAL GOSPEL

  • The Social Gospel impacted the Protestant part of America
  • They weren't pleased with the poverty level so they provided a religious rationale to address those concerns
  • It transformed America by leading to women's suffrage and the emphasis it had on morality led to prohibition

PHILANTHROPY

  • It impacted the needy in America
  • Organizations like Red Cross and Salvation Army were supportive
  • We have become the biggest philanthropy in the world

WOMEN & CHILDREN

  • It impacted the women and children
  • Women had to deal with suffrage and children had to work in factories
  • Women are allowed to vote now and children go to school

NATIVISM & ASSIMILATION

  • Nativists objected primarily to Irish Roman Catholics because of their loyalty to the Pope
  • Catholics are limited to what they can practice
