About 10,000 years ago, Minnesota was covered in glaciers about a mile tall.

There were four glacial lobes with their own sublobes on Minnesota. They were the Des Moines, Surperior, Rainy, and Wedena lobes.

Erratics were pushed into place all over Minnesota by the glaciers. Erratics are large boulders that weren't originally from where they reside.

Another visible sign of glaciers is the kettle lakes and bogs all over Minnesota. These are formed when glacial ice is buried underground and eventually melts.

Ridges were also formed by glaciers and their moraines. Ridges can be found all around Minnesota.

To sum it up, glaciers are responsible for how Minnesota looks today. It's pretty much impossible to imagine what it would've looked like here if there were never glaciers.
