  • Global warming is the increase in temperature of the earth's atmosphere

CAUSES

  • The main cause of global warming is the greenhouse effect, carbon dioxide and burning fossil fuels.
  • Carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide and other greenhouse gases will stay in the atmosphere for many years making it impossible to stop global warming for many years.

  • Sea levels rising due to ice melting
  • Warming of the oceans surface
  • Animals changing migration patterns
  • Severe tropical storms
  • Forest fires
  • Heat waves

WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP?

  • Reduce waste, landfills have a big impact on climate change. When the waste is burned, it releases toxic gases into the air.
  • Buy energy efficient appliances
  • Plant a tree
  • Save energy
  • Recycle

  • Since 1880, the average temperature has risen by 1.4°
  • The last two decades have been the hottest in the last 400 years
  • The Montana Glacier National Park has only 25 glaciers instead of 150 that were in the year 1910
  • Coral reefs are having the highest dying record since 1980
