WHEN HUMIDITY, AIR PRESSURE, OR TEMPERATURE IS HIGH, THEN AIR PRESSURE IS LOW.

GLOBAL WINDS ARE FORMED...

BY THE COMBINATION OF PRESSURE BELTS AND THE CORIOLIS EFFECT.

CORIOLIS EFFECT

THE CORIOLIS EFFECT MOVES AIR MASSES BY THE EARTH'S ROTATION. EARTH MOVES IN A COUNTERCLOCKWISE DIRECTION, WHICH CAUSES AIR MASSES IN THE NORTHERN HEMISPHERE TO DEFLECT RIGHT.

CORIOLIS EFFECT

AIR MASSES IN THE SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE ARE DEFLECTED TO THE LEFT.

MAJOR GLOBAL WINDS

POLAR EASTERLIES ARE NEAR THE POLES, AND AFTER THAT ARE THE PREVAILING WESTERLIES. AFTER THAT ARE THE TRADE WINDS [GOOD FOR TRADING] , THE JET STREAM, HORSE LATITUDES AND DOLDRUMS.

HORSE LATITUDES & DOLDRUMS

DOLDRUMS HAVE NO WIND, AND THE HORSE LATITUDES HAVE ALMOST NO WIND. HORSES WOULD ACTUALLY BE THROWN OUT OF SHIPS BECAUSE THE SHIPS WOULD GO NO WHERE.

SEA BREEZES

THE AIR PRESSURE CAUSES THE OCEAN COME TO THE LAND CAUSING A "SEA BREEZE."

LAND BREEZES

LOW PRESSURE OCCURS OVER THE OCEAN DURING THE NIGHT AND HIGHER PRESSURE OVER THE LAND DUE TO THE UNEVEN HEATING OF EARTH. THIS CAUSES WIND TO MOVE FROM THE LAND TO THE OCEAN CREATING A "LAND BREEZE".

VALLEY BREEZES

DURING THE DAY, THE AIR ON A MOUNTAINTOP IS WARMER THAN AIR IN THE VALLEYS. THE AIR MOVES FROM THE HIGH PRESSURED AIR IN THE VALLEY TO THE MOUNTAINTOP. THIS IS CALLED A VALLEY BREEZE.

MOUNTAIN BREEZE

AT NIGHT, THE VALLEYS ARE WARMED THAN THE MOUNTAINTOPS. THE HEAVIER MOUNTAIN AIR MOVES DOWN TO THE VALLEY, CAUSING A "MOUNTAIN BREEZE".
