GLOMERULONEPHRITIS

INFLAMMATION OF THE GLOMERULI WITHIN THE KIDNEY

SYMPTOMS:

  • Pink urine (hematuria) and foamy due to excess of protein.
  • High blood pressure
  • Fluid retention which can be seen in face, hands, and feet.

WHAT CAUSES IT?

  • This condition follows streptococcal infection.
  • It results in a leaky glomeruli, hematuria, red blood cell casts,
  • albuminuria, renal failure, and uremia.

Treatment:
Drugs may be used to control inflammation, and dialysis or renal transplantation
(necessary if uremia occurs).
