PRESENTATION OUTLINE
GMO is an acronym for Genetically Modified Organism, or any organism thats genetic makeup has been altered by using genetic engineering techniques.
As of right now, the side effects and risks of using/eating GMO products and animals is unknown.
GENETICALLY MODIFIED ANIMALS
There are some animals modified to increase yield, while others are modified for "fun" purposes.
Animals like salmon have been genetically modified to grow faster and to be larger than salmon growing in the wild.
There are also animals modified for fun like glow in the dark fish and bunnies, glittery sea horses, and hypoallergenic cats.
This is a question often debated by advocates for non-GMO foods/companies and companies like Monsanto, the company leading the way in the genetic engineering of plants and animals for consumption.
There is frost-resistant corn, pesticide resistant tomatoes, and many more crops engineered to make them undesirable to birds and deer.
So what do you think? Should we still be producing GMO foods without knowing the risks?
