  • Athenians took pride in building temples, gymnasiums and theaters
  • Acropolis offered a great vantage point for artistic creations
  • At the top of the acropolis stood the parthenon, a white marble temple built in honor of Athena
  • The parthenon is considered the finest example of greek architecture

ARTS

  • Paintings were An important part of ancient Greece
  • Unfortunatley most art work that they created is lost or badly damaged
  • The knowledge of Greek paintings comes from written descriptions from later roman copies
  • They adopted painting styles from different cultures

  • One of the greatest achievements was the develpment of philosophy
  • The 1st great philosopher was Thales of Miletus
  • Thales of Miletus wanted to understand the theory of the cosmos
  • Democritus, developed atomic theory by using logic and mathematics

  • Socrates was one of the most important thinkers of the new era
  • He taught that education was the key to personal growth.
  • They did not use memorization as a teaching tool instead the made them thank for themselves
  • Aristotle founded his own school in 335 B.C.
  • there field of study covered mathematics, medicine, and science
