This breed was originated in the 1800's in England.
It was a combination of a yellow retriever and a tweed water spaniel, along the way it was combined with a few other minor breeds.

THE MAN WHO CREATED THE GOLDEN RETRIEVER
Lord Tweedmouth lived along the Scottish boarder, and had a growing interest in retrieving dogs, a dog that could push through heavy vegetation, brave cold water, swim strongly and retrieve gently.

Occasional: entropian, distchiasis, trichiais, subvalvular aortic stenosis, allergies, cardiomyopathy, OCD, vWD (Von Willebrand disease), and pytraumaticdermatitis
