EARLY GOLF

• Developed in Scotland
• Invented during the Middle Ages
• Became very popular when it reached the US and Britain
• First golf game recorded was on Febuary 26, 1297

Golf Clubs
- Evolved greatly
- Began as all wood
- Evolved into graphite
- Titanium is used today
- USGA has released many rules about golf club regulations in an attempt to keep the game challenging

GOLF BALLS

• Also evolved greatly
• Began as wood
• Evolved into goose feathers and leather
• Then became rubber
• Many balls are made differently, depending on who makes them

GOLF COURSE

• Greatly evolved
• Began as 11 holes
• Golfers would play through 2 times
• Some holes were considered too short
• 11 holes were reduced to 9

GOLF BAGS

• Started off as one-strap, 3 pocket, leather bags
• Bags grew in size and began to have more pockets
• New materials were used
• A second strap was introduced
• Now, many bags have 2 straps and multiple pockets

GOLF TEES

• Used to tee up a ball when driving
• Have notchanged a lot
• Always have been wood
• Always the same shape
• Today, some tees are made of plastic

CADDIES

• Golfer's personal assistant
• Caddies carry bags
• Repair divots
• Tend the flag
• And makes suggestions about the next shot
