DESCRIPTION

• A sexually transmitted bacterial infection that,
• If untreated, may cause infertility
• Also known as Clap

CAUSES

• Caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae
• Gonorrhea bacteria can grow in the warm, moist areas like the
• Cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes

SYMPTOMS

• Greenish yellow or whitish discharge on vagina or penis
• Burning when urinating
• Pelvic pain

TREATMENTS

• Oral or injectable antibiotic given by doctor

PREVENTIONS

• Use condoms
• Avoid sexual contact with high risk partners
• Treat infected sexual partners

PROGNOSIS

• Can be cured 95%-99% of the time
