GOOD NEWS

JAIL AND PRISON MINISTRIES

WHAT IS IT?

"REACHING THOSE OTHERS HAVE FORGOTTEN . . ."

Founded in 1961, Good News is a Christian outreach bringing hope and healing to the incarcerated. Good news believes that each of the lives of the 9.6 million people that are imprisoned represent a family in pain and a broken life. They strive to make hearts whole and to lead the broken to Christ.

WAYS TO VOLUNTEER

  • Pray for Good News Jail & Prison Ministry Chaplains and staff
  • Pray for inmates, ex-offenders, victims, and the families of both
  • Copy and distribute Bible study materials to go to prisons and jails
  • Sponsor cost of calls from families to inmates; provide meeting space
  • Video Sunday worship services for rebroadcast to prisoners

MORE WAYS TO VOLUNTEER

  • Agree to write letters to inmates
  • Collect clothing, hygiene supplies, etc., for inmates at time of their release
  • Invite Chaplain for quarterly visits to your Church
  • Financially sponsor a Chaplain or Chaplains
  • Serve as a member of the Chaplaincy Support Team

One of the easiest ways to be involved is to become a Good News Volunteer. You may have time to teach a Bible Study, or help the Chaplain with office work, distribute Bibles, or assist in the worship services. But most of all, the Chaplains need people to pray for them every day.
