CREATION

  • When God created our first parents he made them stewards of His creation
  • God instructed them to be fruitful and multiply
  • He also instucted them to make good use of the earth
  • These both can relate to the natural resources of the earth as well
  • To fulfill this we have to nmake good use of our natural resources

SEVENTH COMMANDMENT

  • The seventh commandment enjoins integrity of creation
  • Animals like all other things are destined to the common good of past, present, and future
  • Man's dominion over all things on the earth is not guaranteed
  • It is limited by concern for his neighbors quality of life
  • It requires a religious respect for the ingtegrity of life

GOODS OF CREATION

  • The goods of creation are destined for the whole human race
  • A majority of the world's goods are consumed by a minority of the population
  • A man is called to imitate Christ

STEWARDS OF CREATION

  • People must be just ehen dealing with other people
  • People must avoid excessive consumption
  • Care must be taken for all goods of creation
  • Every Christian has a personal obligiation to use the goodsnof the as God wills

DEVELOPMENT OF HUMAN SOCIETY

  • An increased sense of God and self-awareness are key to development
  • This development multiplies material goods
  • It also puts these goods into service of the person and his freedom
  • It reduces dire poverty and economic exploitation
  • It makes respect for cultural identities and openness to the transcendent
