MONARCHY

  • In a monarchy total sovereignty is invested in one person, the monarch. The monarch holds their position until death, and gains their position through hereditary succession.
  • England is an example of a monarch.

INTERSTATE COMPACTS

  • An interstate compact is an agreement between two or more states in the U.S.

PRESIDENTS CABINET

  • Members of Obama's cabinet: John Kerry, Jacob Lew, Chuck Hagel, Eric Holder, Sally Jewell, Tom Vilsack, Penny Pritzker, Thomas Perez, Sylvia Burwell, Julian Castro, Anthony Foxx, Ernest Moniz, Arne Duncan, Sloan Gibson, and Jeh Johnson.
  • The members of the cabinet provide the President with advice related to their areas of expertise. They're also the head of their departments.

FEDERALIST PAPERS

  • Authors: James Madison, John Jay, Alexander Hamilton
  • The Federalist Papers were written in order to educate the public about the positive reasons why the Constitution should be ratified.

FORMAL AMENDMENT METHODS

  • Methods: 1) 2/3 vote in each house of Congress and ratified by 3/4 of the state legislatures, 2) proposed by Congress with a 2/3 vote in both houses and ratified by special conventions in 3/4 of the states, 3) proposed at a national convention when it's proposed by 2/3 of the state legislature then ratified by 3/4 of the state legislatures, 4) proposed at a national convention by Congress when it's requested by 2/3 of state legislatures then ratified by special conventions in 3/4 of the states.

FULL FAITH AND CREDIT

  • Full faith and credit is a guarantee to pay interest and principal on debt.

IMPEACHMENT

  • Impeachment is a formal process that accuses an official with illegal activity.
  • Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton are the only presidents to have been impeached.
