PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Grace Kelly was born November 12, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA and grew up there until she graduated high school.
Father: John Kelly, won three Olympic gold medals as a part of the U.S. Rowing team. A self-made millionaire from a successful brick business on the east coast
Mother: Margaret Katherine Majer, the first coach of women's athletic teams at the University of Pennsylvania.
Grace was the 3rd of 4 children and grew up in a 17 room mansion. She was not athletic like the rest of her family, she was introverted, liked making up stories, and reading, which made her feel like a misfit.
Kelly went to school at Steven's School for Young Matrons (a small, private high school) and excelled in the drama society.
She applied to Bennington College in Vermont, wishing to become a part of the amazing drama department, but was not accepted because of her low math scores.
After graduating at age 19, she auditioned for the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York and sought a career on Broadway.
When she was 22, Grace starred in her first Hollywood film, "Fourteen Hours". On the set of this movie, Gary Cooper discovered her and included her in his movie "High Noon", where Grace played his young wife.
During a photo shoot, during the highest point in her career, Grace Kelly met Prince Rainier III of Monaco, who happened to be seeking a bride. If he didn't produce an heir, Monaco would become part of France.
Grace abandoned her acting career and American citizenship in order to become Princess Consort of Monaco. Prince Rainier banned her films in Monaco as well.
She was engaged to Oleg Cassini, a famous fashion designer, before marrying Prince Rainer.
The royal couple had 3 children: Princess Caroline, Prince Albert, and Princess Stéphanie.

High Noon (1952)- A marshall, personally compelled to face a returning deadly enemy, finds that his own town refuses to help him.
The Country Girl (1952)- A director hires an alcoholic has-been and strikes up a serious relationship with the actor's wife, who he believes is the cause of all the man's problems.
In 1955, Kelly won an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
She also won 3 Golden Globes for World Film Favorite, Best Motion Picture Actress, and Best Supporting Actress.
