Nouns- characters who are played by actors in the play or musical. Ex. In The Secret Garden, Mary Lennox is played by Caitlin Cohn. Caitlin Cohn is the actor playing Mary Lennox/ the noun in the play.
Adjectives- they describe the characteristics of the character. Ex. In The Secret Garden, the script describes Colin Craven (the character/noun in the play) as a fragile hypochondriac in the play.
Pronouns- these are the understudies (Actors that take the place of other actors' character if something goes wrong). Ex. In The Secret Garden, the understudy can take the place/role of Colin Craven.
Verb- this part of speech is the blocking in the play (The blocking tells where the character moves on stage. It usually can be found in the script). Ex. In The Secret Garden, Mary Lennox's/the character's scene was blocked (the verb).
Adverbs- these are the director's notes when he/she is modifying the blocking (the verb) in the play. Ex. In The Secret Garden, Colin Craven/the character receives notes (the adverbs) that modify his blocking (the verb) from the director.
Conjunctions- these are the blackouts (when all of the lights in the theater go out) that happen in between scenes to connect them by providing a smooth transition from one scene to the next. Ex. In The Secret Garden, a blackout happens between Colin's scene and Mary's scene to connect them.
Prepositions- these are the props in the play that can show a specific connection to a certain character. Ex. In The Secret Garden, Mary Lennox's music box prop has a special connection to her heart because it plays her favorite song.
Interjections- these are the special effects that happen on stage to show extra emotion. Ex. In The Secret Garden during Mary's nightmare, flashing lights and loud noises occur to project the emotions going on in her head.
