PRESENTATION OUTLINE

GRASSLAND

World location:
The grassland is found in the middle of large land masses of continents. The two major areas are the prairies in North America and the steppe which straddles Europe and Asia.
The majority of this biome is found between forty degrees and sixty degrees north or south of the equator.

CLIMATE

  • Yearly rainfall: 250-500mm
  • Average summer temperature:100 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Average winter temperature: -40 degrees Fahrenheit

Environmental factors:
In a grassland there is dark deep soil, a lot of his biome is farmland. Some grasses grow up to two meters in height in patchy tufts, whereas other feather-like plants carpet a vast area but only grow to a maximum of fifty centimeters

PLANT ADAPTATAIONS:

  • Grassland plants have evolved so that as long as their roots survive they can grow back after a fire very quickly.
  • Buffalo grass has grown stronger stalks so when a buffalo steps on it, it will survive.

ANIMAL ADAPTATIONS:
