1.
GRAVITY AND MOTION
BY: MARIANNA ATTARD PERIOD 7
2.
GRAVITY AND ACCELERATION
Objects fall to the ground at the same rate- regardless of mass/weight
Acclrration due do to gravity depends on force and mass
3.
ACCELERATION AND VELOCITY
Acceleration is the change of velocity over time
Velocity is speed in a given dircetion
Unbalanced forces cause objects to accelerate
Gravity is the downward, unbalanced force that acts on falling objects- 9.8 m/s/s
For every second an object falls, it's downward velocity increases by 9.8 m/sec
4.
ACCELERATION AND TERMINAL VELOCITY
As the speed of a falling object increases, air resistance increases
Terminal velocity is when the downward force of gravity equals the upward force of air resistance
Net force: 0 Newtons
Falling objects STOPS accelerating
5.
AIR RESISTANCE
Force that opposes gravity
Acts in opposition to objects fallong through the air
Depends on surface area, size, shape, and speed of the object

6.
FREE FALL AND AIR RESISTANCE
An object is in free fall when the only force acting on it is Gravity
There can be NO air resistance
7.
PROJECTILE MOTION
Two movements: Force and Gravity
Force is horizontal ------------>
Gravity is vertical
Projectile motion takes a curved path
