  • Greece is located in Southern Europe
  • The country borders the Mediteranian Sea, Aegean Sea and Lonian Sea creating a mild climate with wet winders and hot dry summers
  • The majority of the population in Greece is true Greeks(93%), this also makes the primary language spoken Greek (99%) with English being the other 1%
  • The 2015 estimated population is 10,775,643, 3 million of which live in the capital city of Athens
  • 58% of the population uses the Internet and the official domain is .gr

Quality of Life

  • Greece is known for it's low stress laid back lifestyle
  • This way of life contributes to the life expectancy
  • The average life expectancy is 80 years old
  • The literacy rate in Greece is 97% and 4% of the GDP is spent on education annually

Why Greece?

  • Greece is a country that Americans can learn a lot from in terms of lifestyle
  • Greeks practice meditation and mindfulness and this allows them to connect with others and themselves in a meaningful way
  • This Greeks also have a traditional Greek diet that creates flavorful light dishes without adding calories, the Greek obesity rate is only 25%
  • Also, who could be in a bad mood living on the Mediteranean

Economic Condition

  • The Greek economy has been in turmoil since the 2008 world financial crisis leaving the unemployment rate at 26% and 44% of the population under the poverty line
  • Due to tourism the services industry makes up 80.6% of the GDP, with the GDP at 284.3 billion dollars
  • Not surprisingly Greece's major exports are food and drinks and chemicals and textiles, these exports making up 35.8 billion dollars
  • The imported goods in Greece are machinery and fuels and that accounts for 62.8 billion dollars
