Brief Summary

  • Athena, also known as Miverva was a virgin Greek goddess of wisdom, art, literature, and intelligent activity. She was the daughter of Zenus; her birth was spectacular in that she did not have a mother. Instead, she sprang full grown and clad in armour from Zenus forehead(myths). She was her father's favorite child.
  • She was brave and bold in battle; however, she only took part in wars that defended the state and home from outside eneimes. She was patron of the city, handcraft, and agriculture.Athena had many symbols such as the owl, olive tree, snakes, Aegis, armor, helmets, spears, and gorgoneion. Each symbol has something unique about it. The owl was her bird, as well as the tree. She turned the weaver Ara chine into a spider. After the mortal woman insulted Athena and the Olympian gods Athena invented the birdle; which permitted man to tame horses the trumpet, the flute, the pot, the rake, the plow, the yoke, the ship, and chariot.

  • She was the embodiment of wisdom, reason, and purity. She became the patron goddess of Athens after winning a contest against Poseidon by offering the olive tree to the Athenians. It reoresents sisterhood of the goddess that existed there.
  • I chose this goddess because she had a lot of very interesting and unique facts about herself. She actually stood for something and had people depending on her. I believe her intentions were to not let anyone down and she did exaclty that.
