WRITING

  • The period of Ancient Greek literature (writing) starts with Homer
  • And ends with the rise of Alexander the Great in the 4th century B.C

PAINTINGS

  • Ancient Greeks enjoyed brightly painted items.
  • Greeks decorated walls with fresco paintings. Fresco painting was mixed paint and wet plat plaster.
  • Greeks often painted floor mosaics as well.

MUSIC

  • Greek music was used during marriage and funerals.
  • The lyre was a common string instrument made of a tortoise shell.

DANCE

  • Greek dance displayed how they lived.
  • Dance was a very important part of Greek culture.
  • They believed that dance helped both physical and emotional health.

THEATRE

  • Arion started theatre in 625 b.c.
  • Tragedy and comedy were two of the major generas.

FOOD

  • Greek food uses wide use of olive oil , vegetables and herbs, etc.
  • Greek deserts are characterized by the dominant use of nuts and honey
