WHO WAS ATHENA?

  • Athena is the Greek virgin Goddess of reason, intelligence, knowledge, arts, literature, and war.
  • Athena is the daughter of the king of the gods, Zeus.
  • Unlike her siblings, Athena's birth was unique. She was born from a headache, she sprung from Zeus's forehead fully grown and clothed.
  • Athena was the embodiment of wisdom, knowledge, and reason.
  • She was Zeus's favorite child and was allowed to use her father's weapons. One of the most well known was the thunderbolt.

HOW WAS ATHENA DEPICTED?

  • Athena was most commonly depicted in Greek records as being a brunette maiden, who wielded a spear and shield.
  • Sometimes images of her have shown her to wear a Trojan helmet and a armored chest plate.
  • She was worshipped by scholars as their goddess. As she was mostly known for being the goddess of knowledge she was greatly respected by scholars of all shapes and sizes.
