Greek society started out from a small island named Crete and it's origins began from an old society named the Minoans.

Minoans migrated to other islands in the Aegean Sea and created many palaces on the islands.

All throughout the southern part of Greece, stone fortresses and fortifications were built and around them were small settlements.

These settlements had agriculture and with agriculture came bustling population centers.

These settlements grew into the Macedonian society. The Macedonians later took over the Minoan culture and converted palaces everywhere to workshops.

However without much order in this society it later broke down and people fled to other Aegean islands leading to a significant population decrease.

A new centralized government was absent so independent poleis took over as the main form of order in Greece. People flocked to these areas for protection and therefore created the Ancient Greek city-states.
