PERSIAN WARS- PERICLES

  • War General for Athens
  • His father (Xanthippus) was a hero from the Persian Wars
  • All surviving pictures or staties of him show him wearing a helmet

PERSIAN WARS- KING LEONIDAS (I)

  • King of Sparta from 490- till death
  • He willingly died because he new that a Sparten king had to die to win the war
  • In Leonidas' last battle he only had 300 me with him

THEATER- SOPHOCLES

  • Most likely lived in 476/7 B.C
  • He studied the arts since the age of 16
  • He came from a rich family
  • He lived in the golden age
  • He won 20 1st place prizes and many 2nd place prizes in drama

THEATER- EURIPIDES

  • His father was promised by an oracle ghat his sun would be honored by all men
  • Euripides was a trained athlete that won a few prizes, his true passion was arts
