SOCIAL CLASS ( ATHENS )

Athens
Athens are the topmost class in Ancient Greece. The people of this class possessed the upper most power and position in the society. One has to be born in the Athens to be apart of the upper class. The upper class symbolised a good civil character, good artistic taste and highly socialised individuals. The people from this class handled all the government work, philosophy as well as literature department and also the war. Athens people always got slaves to perform their materialistic works. The upper class can also be symbolised as the leisure class. They kept their time for the important activities related with the administration of the kingdom.

Metics
Metics are considered residents but are low graded by government due to there incapacity of voting in the direct democracy. They are allowed to compete in the Olympiads, but only if they 're men. They are not allowed to spectate the Olympiads. They're the second most respected class in Athens. They are just below the Athens. Generally they were employed as soldiers, blacksmiths and miners.

Freed Men
The lower class of Athens is partly made of freedman, who at one point of their lives were slaves. Most of the time, the lower class people were not citizens of Greece. The lower class population exceeded that of the upper class. Lower class slaves were not allowed to vote and were told what to do by upper class men. Lower class women had to work for a living and they might of sold cloth that they made. These are lowest class of the real citizens.

Slaves
Slaves were mostly imprisoned and abused in uncomfortable jobs. They were slaved in jobs such as factories, mines, shops and farms. Slaves were mainly kidnapped while roaming in the streets of Athens. These slaves were then sold to customers who then made a duration for the salve to work to be freed. Some buyers keep slaves till they die or sell them when they become weak. Slaves made up to 50% of the population of the Athens. Slaves are lowest class of all classes.
