VOLCANOES

Russia
In Russia there are 6 volcanoes that are on watch.
This is the first time in 60 yr that the three have shown activity at the same time.

TARAWERA

• the volcanoes erupted in 1886
• It destroyed the 8th wonder of the world the pink and white terraces
• Along with this it destroyed 3 villages and over 150 people.
• At the time before the eruption people said they were seeing a fantom who was know as spirit by the people

PALEOMAGNETISM SUPPORTS SEA FLOOR SPREADING

• Magnetic Reversal- flip; the process which the North Pole is transferred to the South Pole and the South Pole becomes a North Pole
• Magnetic symmetry- when a magnetic moment is present in a crystal an additional type of symmetry operation might be present

Divergent Boundaries-places where plates are coming apart. New crust is formed along these boundaries.
Convergent Boundary- places where plates crash or crunch together. Act as when the front ends of cars fold and bend.
Transform Boundaries- places where plates slide past each other. Marked in some places by linear valleys
