THE 26TH AMENDMENT GAVE MEN AND WOMEN 18 YEARS AND OLDER, THE RIGHT TO VOTE.

  • If you are old enough to fight, you are older enough to vote
  • They all agreed it was right and proposed the idea.

WHEN DID IT BECOME PART OF THE CONSTITUTION?

  • March 10, 1971
  • It was a very important day for young people
  • They could now fight but be old enough to vote as well.

DID ANY STATES VOTE NO?

  • No, every state voted yes. It was unanimous.
  • Since every state said yes, it was the fastest passed.
  • Everyone agreed it was the right thing to do.
