PRESENTATION OUTLINE
What was the issue?
Does the University of Michigan Law School's use of racial preferences in admissions violate people's rights?
Background
A white female applied for a law school with good grades, but was denied. One of the reasons for her rejection was that the school wanted more racial diversity and she thought that violated her rights.
Court decision
A 5-4 decision for Bollinger. They deemed that the application process has to many variables for it to just be determined by race so the argument was not valid. They agreed racial diversity was important for school.
