HADES

Facts

• Hades was also called Haides, Aides and Aidoneus
• Hades had a dog with three heads named Cerberus.
• Drew lots with is brothers Zeus and Poseidon to determine where they would rule, Hades drew the worst lot.
• Had an assistant, Charos, to deliver souls from the living world to the underworld
• Hades almost never left the underworld

Symbol

• Hades had two renowned symbols, his helmet and his spear
• his helmet kept him invisible
• His spear had two prongs, majority of other gods had three pronged spears

Hades' birth

• Hades is born to Kronos along with Poseidon and Zeus
• Kronos is told that he will lose his rule to one of his offspring, so each time a new god is born he swallows them
• Everyone is swallowed except for Zues, once he is older, he poisons kronos and cause him to throw up all of his siblings
• Kronos is overpowered and defeated, Zeus, Hades, and poseidon draw lots to agree who rules over what.
• Zeus wins rule over the air, poseidon rules over the sea, and Hades wins the underworld

• I think that the only reason why people would worship Hades is to appease him. to make him happy so they will not go to join him
• Hades is described as a god who does his job well. he treats the people in the underworld the way that they deserve
• Hades as probably the cause of plagues, diseases, or famines, things that would bring more people to come to him
• He is a perfect replica of thee devil
• And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever. (Revelation 20:10 NIV)
