Edmund Barton was born in Glebe ,Sydney on the 18th of January 1849.
His parents were William and Mary Barton. He had 8 brothers and sisters

Went to Fort Street Model School, and Sydney Grammar School- he was School Captain and Dux of the School twice.

Graduated from the University of Sydney in 1868

Edmund Barton loved to play cricket and liked to go fishing.

In 1870, Edmund met Jane Mason Ross. They were married in Newcastle in 1877 and moved to live in Sydney.
