Born on April 15, 1912
Died on July 8, 1994
Successor to his father
North Korean Communist
His Grandson now rules North Korea

WHAT WAS HIS GENOCIDE?
Torture, prison/labor camps, starving to death, and public executions
These people were families that were deemed unfriendly to the regime
The families included: Children and Women
It was one of the worst genocides, and also least understood
The people suffered extreme repression and violations of human rights

WHEN WAS THIS GENOCIDE?
1950-1953
During the Korean War
After North and South Korea split
Following World War II
His son Kim Jong succeeded his reign

HOW DID HE SUCCEED IN HIS GENOCIDE?
North Korea has a dire human rights record and pervasive problems
He imprisoned, tortured, detention, lack of rights and freedom
His victims were Koreans that he thought were against his Leadership

SYMBOLISM
The Korean leaders vs. Korean Citizens
The Victims were people deemed unfriendly to the regeem
The leaders wanted everybody in the country to be for Communism
They killed off the people who didn't like their leadership so everybody in the country would like it

DEHUMANIZATION
People were tortured and starved
They were forced to work in camps
Their names were taken away
They lived in a terrible, sick environment

ORGINIZATION
People were placed in prison before going to the camps
This made sure that no one escaped
The camps were heavily guarded FHA
Anyone trying to escaped would be killed on sight

PREPARATION
There was no separation of different ethnic groups
They took all the victims and put them in camps
Regardless of their race or ethniticity

EXTERMINATION
People were eventually tortured
Some were executed in public
Others died of starvation or over working themselves

DENIAL
All of the bodies were burned
Some bodies were thrown out on the street
Some families buried the bodies
