WHAT ARE TEMPERATE GRASSLANDS

  • These biomes a characterized by their vast expanses of open land that receives relatively little rainfall and are home to large herbivores
  • Their locations are mainly in North and South America
  • It's climates are hot summers and cold winters, summers temperature can be well over 100 degrees and winters can be as low as -40.
  • Temperate Grasslands don't have many seasons. The only seasons they have are summer, winter and spring
  • The plants that grow on this land is trees and large shrubs, cotton woods, oak and willows grow in the river valleys.
  • Not many animals live here either, mostly bisons, carnivores include wolfs, coyotes, swift foxes, badgers, and black footed ferrets. Birds include grouses, meadowlarks, quails, sparrows, Hawks, and owls

  • This is the global distribution of the Temperate Grassland
  • Theres Central Asia, North America, Australia, Central Europe, and upland of South America.
