  • Oregon borders Washington, California and Idaho. Also the Pacific Ocean.
  • The capitol is Salem.
  • The largest city is Portland

  • Mount Hood is the tallest peak at 11,239 feet tall.
  • It is very rainy in Oregon.

History and Government

  • In 1805 the Lewis and Clark expedition reached the Pacific Ocean going through Oregon.
  • The government is divided into three branches-legislative branch makes the laws, executive branch- makes sure people obey laws, judicial branch decides if a law has been broken.

Industry

  • Forestry is a big industry in Oregon for paper products. There is a law to replant trees after a wood harvest.
  • Tourism is also a big industry for skiing, hiking, boating, climbing, fishing and camping.
