HISTORY
Founded in the mid 18th century by Jewish mystics
Became popular with the less education common people
The idea was spread amougest the Jews during the Holocaust
After World War 2 the religion was spread through immigration.
The language mainly spoken is Yiddish

Why?
The Hasidic Jews wanted to live a sheltered life.
The close communities were centered around a leader called rebbe.
The first American groups were formed in the late 1940s and 50s

LOCATION
Many currently live in New York.
Most of them in Brooklyn, Williamsburg, Crown Hieghts, and Boro Park
45 thousnad live in Crown Hieghts
50 thousand live in Williamsburg
At least 15 thousand live in Crown Hieghts

WHY THEY ARE UNIQUE?
The hasidic Jews belong to a special movement within Orthodox Judiaism
They believe the Torah, the 5 books of Moscs, is the literal word of god.
The core of Hasidism is enthusiasm and mysticism
Mysticism is and interest in inner transformative experience, connection with god
Hasidim has a long history of traditional songs, story telling, and art aids to sevice god.
