About Hatchet Hatchet is a book about a boy with divorced parents who is living with his mom and is going to see his dad. He travels on a plane without his mother, and the only person there is the pilot. Before his mother leaves she hands him a hatchet. The pilot has a heart attack while he is in the middle of a flight. The plane crashes.
