  • Christians and muslims had similar reasons for recruting soldiers for the crusades
  • The Muslims of the Middle East and Christians of Europe.
  • About a million people were involved in all 4 major crusades
  • Around 70,000 Muslims died in the Crusades.

CRUSADES

  • The Crusades were military campaigns waged by the Christians and Muslims
  • The goal were to take Jerusalem and the Holy Lands

HOW THE MUSLIMS RECRUITED DURING THE CRUSADES

  • The muslims land was being invaded and really gave them
  • no choice but to fight.
  • The muslim villages were being raided and burned.
  • The Muslim jihad felt that it was their religious duty to fight.

HOW DID THE CHRISTIANS RECRUIT DURING THR CRUSADES

  • In 1095, Pope Urban The Second called on all Christian to liberate Jerusalem
  • In return, they would be granted a spiritual reward, all of their sin would be forgiven.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN JIHAD AND CRUSADES

  • The Muslims fought for their God, Jihad
  • The first Crusades was caused by the Muslim Jihad

THE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN CHRISTIANITY AND MUSLIM RECRUITMENT

  • They both felt it was their religious duty to sacrifice themselves.
  • In order to regain the Holy Lands
  • The Christians and the Muslim's believed they would be forgiven
  • For their sins if they fought.
