WHAT CAUSES HEART ATTACKS

  • An artery in your heart gets blocked
  • The blood cannot get through
  • Oxygen, nutrients, and waste, cannot be delivered to the rest of your body.
  • It depends on where the blockage is, but if a majority of the artery’s or veins are blocked, you might die since the majority of blood can’t get through.

HOW DOES THIS IMPACT THE HEARTS FUNCTION?

  • Depending on the blockage, your heart could stop functioning.
  • If the blockage is too severe, and blocks too many of the arteries, your heart could stop pumping blood
  • Then, the rest of the organs and your body in general would not have the oxygen, nutrients, and waste delivery that are needed.
  • If your organs aren’t functioning, your body will start to shut down, and you will die.

THE CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM

  • First, oxygenated blood leaves the heart through the arteries and goes to the rest of your body.
  • It delivers oxygen, nutrients, and transports waste through the arteries.
  • Then, it goes back to the heart through the veins
  • Last, it goes through the heart, to the lungs, through the heart again, and it happens all over again.

HOW THIS AFFECTS THE STRUCTURE IF THE HEART

  • Your heart has veins and arteries
  • If an artery, especially one near the aorta or blocking many arteries gets blocked, bad things can happen. The arteries being blocked will not be able to let blood through
  • If blood cannot get through, it cannot be delivered to your organs.
  • Your organs will not get oxygen, and you might die, if not treated.
