WHAT'S INSIDE

• Inside this portfolio is three things.
• The first thing in this portfolio is tie-dye.
• The next one is glue batik. And the last one is
• upcycled garment. These are what you will find in my
• portfolio.

TIE-DYE

• I made my tie-dye shirt by rolling the shirt and then tying it with rubber bands.
• Next, I put the shirt in soda ash for five minutes. After five minutes, I took the shirt
• and squeezed out the soda ash. Then, I put my garbage bag underneath my shirt
• and I sprayed different colored dyes on it. Finally, I put the shirt in a Ziploc bag
• and put it overnight. After that, I rinsed it with warm and cold water and it's done.

GLUE BATIK

• I made my glue batik by adding glue on the shirt and making designs with it.
• Then, I hanged the shirt on a hanger and let the glue dry. When the glue
• dried, I put my garbage bag underneath the shirt and I painted the shirt with
• a large paintbrush. Once the paint dried, I washed off the glue with warm
• water. And that is how I made my glue batik shirt.

UPCYCLED GARMENTS

• I made my upcycled garment by first cutting off the hem of the shirt.
• Then, I measured the length of the end of the shirt (2-3 in.) and cut out
• fringes. Next, I knotted two fringes that are beside each other and did the
• same thing with the ends of each knots until they were too short. That is how I
• made my upcycled garments.

REFLECTION

• I learned that there are many things that the handicrafts industry can make.
• The things that they make aren't just some cheap knockoff. They are quality made
• and already the world wants their products. This shows what the Filipino person can do.
• I learned that the tools that we use for handicrafts are supposed to be handled with care and
• be used properly or else your work will be destroyed. I thought all the activities that we did

• Were really fun and I liked them very much. I say this because I never did
• those and I think I might do them again. The activities for last term for HELE
• was really great and I hope we can do it again.
