WHO IS HELIOS?

Titan god of the sun. He was also the guardian of oaths and the god of gift of sight.

To whom is Helios related to?

He is the son of Hyperion and Theia. His sisters are Eos (Dawn) and Selene (Moon).

What power does Helios have?

EACH MORNING AT DAWN HE RISES FROM THE OCEAN IN THE EAST AND RIDES IN HIS CHARIOT,

pulled by four horses (Pyrois, Eos, Aethon, and Phlegon) through the sky to descend at night in the west

Briefly describe their myth/backstory

handsome, and usually beardless, man clothed in purple robes and crowned with the shining aureole of the sun.

HIS SUN-CHARIOT WAS DRAWN BY FOUR STEEDS, SOMETIMES WINGED. HELIOS WAS IDENTIFIED WITH SEVERAL GODS.

THE MOST FAMOUS MYTH IN WHICH HELIOS TAKES PART IS THAT OF HIS MORTAL SON, PHAETHON.

THE BOY DEMANDED THAT HIS FATHER HELIOS ALLOW HIM TO DRIVE HIS GLEAMING CHARIOT ACROSS THE SKY.

HE WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE CHARIOT, ZEUS KILLED HIM WHILE ZOOMING IN THE SKY.
