You must be at least 30 years of age
You must have been a citizen for at least 9 years
You must inhabit the state in which you wish to represent

HOW THEY ARE ELECTED
Since the 17th amendment, voters in each state have selected senators during the Regukar November elections
For the senate the whole state votes for two people to represent the state
For the House of Representatives there are districts and each distric has its own
How many representatives each state has is based on the population

BENEFITS OF THE JOB
Both senators and representatives are paid $169,000
Speaker of the house receives $212,000, and floor leaders receive $183,500
They both have lifetime healthcare plans, and a $401,000 retirement plan
They receive special tax deductions
They receive Generous travel allowance and franking privelages

WAYS THEY CAN BE FIRED
In both houses 2/3 of the house may be expelled if you have done something wrong
Before being expelled many people resign from there position to save their reputation
